The term grindhouse has an interesting history spanning over a century. When I think of grindhouse, I think of over-the-top, somewhat poorly produced horror, exploitation, and action flicks that contain gore, nudity, and shocking elements that make for a fun experience.
Grindhouse movies are usually b-movies and therefore not well funded, but still have a memorable edge to them. For me, these types of movies are always so much more enjoyable to watch. Lucky for us, the cult following associated with these films make them easier to find online in the modern era. I’m always interested in discovering new flicks and seeing how the next grindhouse movie shocks me.
What is a Grindhouse Theater?
Grindhouse theaters were popular in the early twentieth century until the 1980s. These were theaters that would show these mildly trashy films (term used with love) as part of a long bill of films. It would show a binge of movies at a low price to get more viewers in the joint.
